The Reason Why Smart Phones Will Be the Future Communication Device
Until recently, virtually all homes across the nation contained at least one “land line” (also known as a “wired” phone). And even though many families still own land lines they are becoming less and less popular each time that a new smart phone is released. As proof of this, a recent U.S. survey conducted by a group of telecom operators revealed that nearly 30% of urban households with all members under the age of 30 not only no longer use land lines as their primary phone, but don’t even have land lines. This demographic relies on cell phones for all of their communication needs.
With such a wide and growing variety of smart phones from which to choose and the rapid expansion and evolution of wireless data service and speed, the rate at which families are abandoning land lines will likely only continue to accelerate for the foreseeable future. In fact, there are also other factors as to why many families are constantly switching from house phones to the new hip and in-style smart phones.
One of the more obvious reasons is of course cost. The average monthly cost for an individual voice and data plan for a smart phone like the HTC Sensation is anywhere from $60 to $100. The average land line bill costs between $25 and $50. Under these assumptions, a family of only two people could end up spending up to $250 per month just to speak on the phone. As long as the smart phone voice connection is clear, owning one in addition to paying for a land line is essentially a redundant cost.
Another important factor contributing to families decisions to leave their home phones behind is the potential to stretch their smart phone voice plans. As is the case with the Sensation, prime-time calling minutes can be saved by using the phone’s data plan and high-speed connectivity to make internet-based phone calls through services like Skype. There are even certain HTC Sensation accessories, such as a Bluetooth headset, that make the internet calling experience far more effortless than a land line-based call. Also worth mentioning is that families are deciding to make the switch because home phone numbers can be too general when each family member likely has their own phone number.
Any family looking to make that transition should first note that a mobile smart phone can easily be damaged. Traditional land lines phones are not really ever the subject of day-to-day abuses that a smart phone will go through. Since, most smart phones will be expensive to replace, it is very important to protect them. A solution would be to purchase some HTC accessories like a case to help prevent internal damage if the phone is dropped. But a case alone might not be enough to prevent the screen from being cracked upon an accidental drop; a screen protector will keep your screen protected from all types of damage. No matter what smart phone you choose, cell phone accessories will help you get the most from your mobile device.
