Things To Consider When Purchasing Mobile Phones For Kids
Mobile phones are something that most children want these days particularly once the start school. Your children can always contact you if they have a mobile phone and you can contact them so it is probably a good thing for them to have one. Here are a few things to consider when purchasing mobile phones for kids.
- The best kind of phone for your children will be a pay as you go phone rather than a bill phone because this will prevent you having huge bills to pay. Most young people can find it difficult to appreciate that things cost money and will spend hours on the phone each day. If they have a pay as you go phone then they will know their limits.
- There are some phones that you can buy which will only permit the dialling of certain numbers and this can limit inappropriate use. These phones can be set to only allow certain numbers such as parents and grandparents and if you only want your child to be able to phone in an emergency then this is a good one to go for. You can get these phones for really young kids and they come with large buttons; each button represents somebody they can phone.
- It is probably best to buy your child a cheap mobile phone. This is not about being penny-pinching but more to do with the fact that many children have become victims of crime due to criminals going after their expensive looking phones. If your childs phone looks cheap then the criminals will probably not want to bother with them.
- Speak to your childs school in relation to their policy on mobile phones. These days they are allowed in most schools provided they are switched off during lesson time. Your child needs to understand the rules of the school concerning mobile phones or else they could find that it gets confiscated.
