You may find some of the mobile phone terminology quite confusing if you are thinking of going out and buying one. The language associated with mobile phones seems to becoming more complex as mobile phones become more sophisticated. Some of the most common terms that you are likely to hear are listed below.

- GSM stands for Global Systems for Mobile Communications. This system is by far the most popular one for mobile phone communications; you really cant argue with 43 billion users worldwide.

- 1G, 2G, 3G, & 4G mobile phones. The G in all of this refers to generation. We are using 4G phones now as in 4th generation phones but the original cellular phones which were out were first generation (1G). You will probably hear a lot of talk these days about fifth generation phones. The newer phones are able to handle a lot more data than any phones in the past.

- SIM Card. The SIM card refers to the Subscriber Identity Module and this is where the users subscriber identity is stored. SIM Cards are where passwords and unique identity numbers of the subscriber are stored. Unless you have a SIM card for the phone, you will not be able to use it properly.

- Bluetooth. Many mobile phones have Bluetooth and this is an open wireless network that allows you to pass information over distances. The fact that you can easily pass data to another phone is one of the great things about bluetooth.

- SMS is Short Messaging Services. Communication between two phones is what is meant by SMS (short messaging services).

- When it comes to sending things such as photos, videos, music files or ringtones to each other it is done through MMS (multimedia messaging service).

- GPS is Global Positional Services and this is now common in most mobile phones. GPS enables our location to be found by using the mobile phone.

SD Cards are items found in a lot of things in todays day and age. 32gb Ultra SD cards can give you a great example of a memory card. Another one that is used nowadays is the R4i.
