The Feature Packed Google Nexus One
Upon its release a few months ago, the Google Nexus One has generated a ton of hype amongst smartphone enthusiasts. The Nexus One operates on the Android system designed by Google, while the phone itself is manufactured by the HTC Mobile Manufacturer. Consumers who have already made the switch to the Nexus One will tell you that it is simply the best Android smartphone ever produced. The Google Nexus One bears some similarities to the iPhone. The Nexus One has no physical keyboard, like the iPhone, and the slim construction that results is actually slightly thinner than that of the iPhone. Featuring dimensions of 119mm x 59.8mm x 11.5mm, the sturdy phone is also rather light, weighing in at only 130 grams. The Google Nexus One comes with a 3.7 inch AMOLED touch screen; the display resolution being a nice 480 by 800 pixels. Below the screen are four touch buttons – the home, search, back and menu buttons. Additionally, it has a trackball device, a power button and voice controls. Within just a few hours you can expect to be totally at ease with the control system that it uses. The 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor runs the Android 2.1 operating system. All of the standard connectivity features are contained within. Using WLAN connections, the Nexus One browses the internet with a 3G HSDPA and HSUPA and WiFi. The Nexus One transfers data to other devices with the use of microUSB and Bluetooth, enabling both cabled and wireless data transmission. As for applications, the Google Nexus One includes a number of software features that make it a pleasure to use. Google Voice is a particularly useful application that has been incorporated. It allows you to use your Google Voice number for sending text messages and making outbound calls. Therefore, if you are a Google Voice user then you can actually make free calls from the phone. The Voice Keyboard is another great piece of software that comes pre-installed on the Google Nexus One. The text fields throughout the various apps and features of the phone are all voice enabled. With the Voice Keyboard you can talk into the phone and have your words converted into text. You speak and it types for out the words for you, what could be easier? This application is about 90% accurate and is a great time saver.
