Reasons Why Retro Watches are Still Catchy
A water and scratch resistant watch with a mp3, mp4 and mp5 playback, and an eternal calendar! Just some of the awesome features that todays snazzy and ultra-techy watches are displaying. But what if youre not after the latest and greatest gadgetry? What if Retro Watches are what you need to match your exceptional retro attire? The interest on for Retro Digital Watches must have been strong enough for Casio to begin creating retro-styled watches once again. Retro is truly getting huge right now, and its no surpise. A few masters in eCommerce have devoted their time and efforts solely into selling retro-products.
An old design from Casio, the F-91W Retro Watch, was a popularly sold item back in the 90s due to its reliability and functionality. We can see why 20 years later Casio hasnt felt the need to change the design a smidge, and according to Design Critic Stephen Bayley these Casio Retro Watches are a Modest Masterpiece.
Reasons why Retro Watches are Still Cool
So what makes these Retro Watches so cool and popular amongst todays youth? Unlike most companies, Casio has not been marketing them as a cool or trendy watch. One example is the continuing demand for the F-91W watch with demands as high as Retro Sweets. It is a mere simple digital watch that has been renowned for its price and reliability. It seems what has made these Retro Watches so cool is the fact that they havent attempted to be cool from the onset! This is just what some people yearn for in a society where we are forced fed with high-tech gizmos on a daily basis.
So What has Changed on these Retro Watches?
Not too many it seems. Theres still that original Casio shape, with its side buttons and some added features such as a timer, a stopwatch and an alarm. There is also that option for an hourly beep. Although it kept most of its original features, some wild retro colours have been added. The new range come in a selection of colours including Yellow, Purple, Green, Orange, White, Blue, Pink, Red … and the list goes on.
So long live the Casio F-91W design, but it doesnt end there. There are many other Retro Watches by Casio that are making a comeback, but Ill leave that for another day. All this talk about Retro style watches make me want to go look for one right now that would match well on my retro-styled attire.
