Learn About The LG Optimus GT540

Getting into the Android game fairly late, LG continues to explore this territory with the new LG GT540. It has been given the easier to remember name of Optimus. Taking the next step onward from the GW620, the Optimus is similar in many ways, limiting development costs. The customer is sure to benefit from this in a mid-priced smartphone. A QWERTY keyboard is just one of the features that add value to the Optimus that some of LGs earlier models did not possess. Some models of smartphones may be slightly smaller, but the Optimus can be easily placed in pocket with dimensions of 109 x 54.5 x 12.7mm. It is not heavy at all, owing to its lightweight, high quality plastic shell. Smoothly contoured edges bestow an attractive appearance upon the handset. A 3-inch resistive touch screen dominates the front of the LG Optimus. Early reports are that although not a capacitive touch screen, it is still quite accurate, leading to far fewer mistakes than one might expect. It maintains HVGA resolution and the TFT display provides more than adequate image quality for a phone that falls in the mid-price range. Images are presented at a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels with 256K colors. On the Optimus you will find two kinds of home screens. One is the familiar Android experience while the other is LG customized. LGs version allows you to customize buttons at the bottom of the screen that grant access to messaging at any time as well as widgets, folders, and shortcuts. You can even choose the number of available home screens, anywhere from three to seven. Or, you can change the theme completely. One area in which the LG Optimus really excels is battery life. Equipped with a 1500mAh lithium-ion battery, the phone offers 1500 hours of standby life and up to 7 hours and 20 minutes of talk time. Many smartphones in its price range, or any other range for that matter, can claim these numbers. Smartphones, multimedia and voice powerhouses that they are, must feature other gadgets to satisfy the user. An alarm clock, world clock, a dedicated Youtube plug-in, a PDF viewer, voice recorder, and personal organizer just scratch the surface of available applications for the Optimus. The LG Optimus may be a comparatively entry-level Android phone, but the ease of use works to its benefit. Those new to Android technology will not be left frustrated and experienced users will find plenty of features to keep them happy.
