Digital Cameras And Whether Or Not To Choose The Largest Memory Card Available
Choosing a big memory card which can store tons of data is something that plenty of people these days do. There are some people who spend a lot of money on 16GB memory cards and this would enable them to store at least 12,000 photos. And even if you take photos as a hobby, surely that amount seems quite large. I actually believe that there are good reasons why people shouldnt have memory cards of this size, and heres why.
The Drawbacks To Buying Large Capacity Memory Cards.
Having a memory card with a lot of space on it will be very tempting for us as a place to store items. This may sound like a bad idea but I have had an experience which gives me reason to believe that this is not always the best choice for storing your data. Just a few months ago I lost thousands of photos from a memory card; almost three years worth of memories. I thought some of the data retrieval experts might be able to do something to help but after visiting a few of them I have accepted that nothing can be done. It seems that this is a very common occurrence and the reason it happens is that memory cards are not supposed to be for long term storage.
So now I only use a 1GB memory card as it is enough for my photos for any one occasion and it means that I have to transfer them before I can use it again. I have also saved quite a bit of money this way. I think that if you are only using your camera to take pictures then this is a good choice because it should ensure that you take off your photos regularly and store them somewhere safe. Of course if you are using your camera to take video as well then you probably do need memory that is a bit larger.
Memory card readers can be found in countless products nowadays. 4GB Micro SD cards happen to be a great example of this. Yet another that you can find widely available is the compact flash.
